Lincoln Childs und Douglas Preston... Douglas Preston and Lincoln Childs about Cruisingships and their suitability for thriller

zur deutschen Fassung Everybody who likes to read thriller and other literature of the suspense genre is familiar with their name: Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. The works of the two Americans comine scientific knowledge with dramatic incidents to create thrilling strands. Thus their (science)thrillers are highlights every single time. Their solobooks (Canyon, Eden Inc.) already gave proof: Preston and Child know perfectly how to drag their readers along with them and to tie them to their stories literally for hours.

Yet, if you want to experience them in top form, you have to read one of the novels they wrote together.

Up to now Peston and Child wrote a total of twelve books together, elven of them are available in German. It's their latest book, The Wheel of Darkness, who is still awaiting its German edition.

Zur deutschen Version Gordon Van Gelder, Editor of the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction and Winner of the Hugo-Award 2007 is answering the questions of the Zauberspiegel.

Publishing its October/November 2009 issue, the Magazine of Fantasy and Science can reflect upon a history of six decades. Unfortunately it isn't available in German (Germany will very likely never be a fruitful market for shortstories).

Here we continue with the interview that we started publishing yesterday.

V některých směrech zastiňuje hrdinu a čtenáři ho často mají raději.

Ve filmu „Hellboy“ je to podobné. Pro svou sílu jsou lidé respektováni (což je hlavní hrdina), ale milováni jsou pro své slabosti (a to jsou pak jeho parťáci).

Flagge... Alan Skinner on Muddles, The Land and Sibling Press

We met Alan Skinner during the Frankfurt International Book Fair in 2007, in the huge and cluttered Hall of Englishlanguage international publishers. He had one of the smaller booths that seemed threatened to be overlooked among the big gaudy booths.

My eyes stuck on this booth because the man behind this table looked really likeable on first sight - and because the cover of the book presented there had a tantalizing title: "Blue Fire and Ice" (we published a review in German: See here ).

We had an interesting conversation and when we ended I was convinced that I wanted to know more about.

That's why we made this interview, given to us by mail since Alan seems to oscillate between Australia and Great Britain.

Poznámky k tvorbě hororové série (hrdinové) –

Úvod

Mnozí znají tyto hrdiny hororových sérií, které nám od časů Jürgena Grassmücka alias Dana Shockera představila nakladatelství a autoři: Larry Brent, Björn Hellmark, John Sinclair, Dorian Hunter, Gordon Black, Tony Ballard, Rick Masters, Profesor Zamorra a kdo ví jak se všichni jmenují a jmenovali, protože až na Zamorru a Johna Sinclaira se všichni nacházejí v nirváně sešitových hrdinů, což z tohoto textu dělá skoro literárně-historickou úvahu.

Ale: tito hrdinové různých sérií získali nejpozději koncem sedmdesátých let převahu nad samostatnými jednodílnými sešitovými romány, případně je i nahradili.
